[QUOTE="Tixylixx"]I like the setting but the game is bad, especially the combat and the amount of loading screens... my MMOs have to be seamless.

I agree with the loading screens, they should be a bit faster. Maybe with a few tweaks and optimizations they can achieve faster loading screens (I remember Guild Wars 1 optimized them).
As for seamless, it depends on the game. Ones like WoW can be cause their graphics aren't that demanding, but with Secret World it's a LOT of graphics/sound to load.
This. The Secret World on DX11 with the graphics maxed is pretty demanding. I get anywhere from 40-60fps. But it's a great looking game so I don't mind so much. Would be nice to get a consistent 60fps but I can dream.
The loading is pretty bad. They need to get to work with that and the optimization for DX11. I still think it should run at 60fps even with those settings. It's an MMO so it kinda does matter a lot.
There are some quest bugs. I've only run into one quest bug myself, but other players have complained.. some are wrong though. Some of the quests require more thought process and some people just don't have it and they call it a bug. These quests are really fun, and they require you to think out of the box. Really refreshing. I feel like I'm not even doing grind quests like I have in World of Warcraft, LOTRO, Warhammer Online, Guild Wars. They're story quests if anything.. the quests tie in to stories and interwoven stories. They're not boring kill 10 monsters here and report back, get gold and reward. All the quests have some sort of purpose that ties into the characters and settings. Imho, Funcom did an excellent job. I've already made two characters and finished the same area twice. It's that fun.
Before maintenance kicked in about 20 minutes or so ago, I finally hit Rank 3 faction, with my Templar so I'll be getting the kickass uniform gear. Can't wait. :)
I can't stress enough how wonderful this game is. The music, stories, characters, voice acting, non-boring and non-lazy quests, lore, graphics, visual design, level design, making references to pop culture with taste, clever writing, wheel ability, flexibility of builds means no class and no levels. For once, I don't care what level I am... I'm adventuring and exploring the world. Everything was so carefully hand-crafted and designed.. it's like the perfect MMO. World of Warcraft can't even touch the complexity of this game on so many levels.
If only some of you guys could see what I've played, and really understand what I'm trying to say; you would know how great this game is. It's brilliant. And I didn't even get to take a bite of my cake yet.. I barely just opened the box.
There's a reason why it hit 1.5 million, yet no one really talked about it. I hope that it maintains those numbers and climbs. it's too bad, it probably won't because of the state of the MMO market. More people need to check this game out. It's a masterpiece.
People keep saying it's not doing anything fresh and I'm sure they're the same people that barely touched the limited beta.. if I based my decision on buying the game on that, i might have skipped it. But the other aspects of the game pulled me in.. not so much the combat.. But then when I finally played it.. the combat and gameplay got better. Because you're not just playing the barebones minimum beta. Everything opens up. The Wheel ability is awesome. The crafting is fun and unlike walking your character to a blacksmith to craft you a hammer or put in a gem for you. It's much more, and done in an interesting way.. I actually smiled when I crafted my first assault rifle, talisman, or focus.
The community is strong. Mostly mature. Very, very helpful.. I've never asked a question in chat channel only to get 15 replies. I couldn't keep up in the chat channel. Mind you, the chat channel is messed up and bombarded with several channels in one main channel.. and yet people still took the time to help. I haven't had a group quit on me yet. Most people I play with are smart players.. have either played another MMO like World of Warcraft before, and love the theme and setting of this game as well as everything else which grew on them. Honestly, I haven't heard of any complaints in chat. Only a few bugged quest but no one is whining or arguing over petty crap. Wonderful community.
The thing that is going to ensure Funcom's success is customer support and content. So far, I've seen them respond to nearly every thread in Game Support forum. Not always providing a solution but will address in patch or look into it. Surely, the 5 years of development time, they have more up their sleeve. I have faith in them. Developers make mistakes, they learn from them.. and even if sometimes fueled by an angry, regretful, passion.. they can turn it into something like The Secret World. Major props to them, and I tip my hat and I bow with grace. They really delivered. Smooth launch, not perfect, but smooth enough that I was able to play every day since it came out in long sessions (I'm on vacation). No crazy long maintenance schedules.
People also complain about the animations.. I couldn't disagree more. Pull up the emote window and do all the emotes and tell me where have you seen an MMO that does animations like that. Even in combat gameplay, nothing looks awkward. The clunkiness is slightly there with a retro-modern feel, but nothing bad. The sound effects are very good. I didn't even want to use the shotgun because it was so dang loud and burst dmg abilties made my ear pop. It isn't Battlefield 3, but for an MMO it's very good. But the musical score, the ambience sounds, the sound effects and voicework is very very well-done. I was fighting a Draugr and he made my headphones thump when he pounded the ground. Zombies with their growl. All of it fits the bill.
I could go on and on.. I love TSW. I could just play this game for the next 2 years or so and I skip most of the upcoming games. I already forgot about the games I have now. Even recent released games.
It's a really well-crafted game.
