Instead of consolizing multiplats, make the game for PC first and foremost then give the consoles the sloppy seconds. Problem solved.
No game needs tens of millions of dollars for a budget on any platform.Stevo_the_gamerWell Crysis was the most expensive PC game ever made, but that's because they made the most advanced engine ever made along with it. The Witcher 2 costs 8 million to make. That's not much, they would get their budget back if they sold like 400.000 copies. If they want to bring it to consoles however it would cost a lot more money.
They are probably rigt. But I don't think even the 360/PS3/Wii can even afford a large budget exclusive. The difference from the consoles and PC is that the Console devs can take a chance since they are backed by a billion dollar company.

This is what many fail to understand. Making a multimillion game only for PC is a huge risk because there is no MS/sony to back you up. Even in one of the consoles no one can afford to remain exclusive. As the budget of games increase we'll see more and more multiplats.

I've said that countless times before. Crysis 2 is your fault, PC elitists. It's clearly stated in that article by Crytek that the PC alone can't back up a venture such as Crysis 2, let alone support another graphical leap such as the original Crysis. Spit and hiss all you want, but this is the truth.
Like the Dice interview ?I dont see why people are getting angry for him stating the truth.

Whatever you say Crytek, while you're dumbing down games. Blizzard is buying their thousandth yacht due to money made exclusively from PC gaming.

And leave out the core audience? YOu do know more people play on consoles more than PC right?? No matter what "piegraph" is shown or clipping from some website stating PC gaming is more popular..ITS NOT..Console is where gaming took off and that is where it will end..PC can do a lot..BUT it wont take down consoles any time soon..
didnt crysis 1 sell like 5 million copies? that's more than crysis 2 will ever sell even if its on all platforms
edit: also to guy above me, basically only americans play consoles and the japanese dont play american/european games to often compared to japanese games. the rest of the world plays PC games, especially europe

How many units did Crysis sell? I'm sure they covered their costs (if they went a heavy dd route, they could make more money), and how did they manage 22m for Crysis anyway, is copy pasting palm trees and using terragen so hard? The real reason, is they just want More money :).Whatever you say Crytek, while you're dumbing down games. Blizzard is buying their thousandth yacht due to money made exclusively from PC gaming.

Blizzard has WoW.
This is true for any platform. Exclusives can't compete in budgets with multiplatform games. Unless it's a MMO.
OH YES Blizzard and VALVE. Clearly if they can be SO successful -- two companies that never pushed the technical boundaries of games like Crysis did -- CLEARLY everyone else can do JUST as well.Whatever you say Crytek, while you're dumbing down games. Strawman, we arguing about the topic of "PC gamers don't buy games enough to justify large budget exclusives" not "Who has the best technical graphics."
Go back to saying Minecraft is a piece of communist propaganda.
[QUOTE="Vesica_Prime"]OH YES Blizzard and VALVE. "If making a game that is bigger, better, more stable, performs better across a wider range of hardware, provides a continued visual benchmark for PC gaming, and more fun with a huge single-player and multiplayer offering is considered selling out, that seems like a really odd application of the phrase. The decision to go multi-platform has allowed us to bring a better game to everyone, which has been our goal all along."

And Starcraft and Diablo.
But WoW brings them money constantly and they can use that money to make Starcraft and Diablo. Even if SC or Diablo would financially flop, they can still fall back to Wow. Also Blizz games launch prices are higher than normal PC game prices. I'm waiting when more PC devs will follow.
Crytek is funny, but when they see their game selling less on three platforms than the first two only the PC they´ll probably understand that they screwed up their priorities and the greedyness has led them to nowhere.
Meanwhile,Blizzard keeps making millions.
[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"][QUOTE="gmaster456"] But they'd also make a lot more moneygmaster456Like Crytek made a ****load of money with Crysis 2 amirite? They have nobody to blame but themselves for that. It has nothing to do with the platforms it was on. It was just a mediocre game that performed poorly on consoles.
No it wasn't. It was a good reviewed big game with huge marketing campaign. The best looking game on consoles.
With your logic it should have moved millions by now. But see, that's not the truth.
Bulletstorm will struggle to break 1 million and so will Killzone 3

Really? 11 million sales is a financial flop?!
Let's be honest with ourselves. Crytek is in the buisness of licensing out their engine. Their engine was PC-only at the time and very expensive, not many PC-exclusive developers are gonna blow money on that engine. Crytek knew more people would be interested if their engine ran on consoles so they created a list of petty excuses after Crysis sold 3 million copies, which is a lot more than most games in general (including consoles) sell, so they could justify the move toward consoles, which was never really a move toward it. They just wanted to expand their engine so more people license it. Why else do you think every other video they release is a game engine video?
Either side can fall for this petty crap if they want to, but that's the obvious truth.
Funny how Crysis has sold over 4.5 million then, according to Crytek thats bad for a game that had its sales held held back by Vista promotion, high system requirements and GFWL ( or shall we just say Microsoft for those last two? ). How much did Alan Wake sell again? That from Crytek is just an excuse to take exclusives multi-platform to try and make more money on licencing their engine to other developers. But yeah piracy is only effecting PC gaming right? Thats why Portal 2, OFP Red River and Mortal Combat are already on torrent sites FOR CONSOLES right now and NOT for the PC.

Good point. I also like how Starcraft 2 was mentioned.
Im also aware Diablo 3 is coming too.
Probably all good games, but so little of them. Why can't Blizzard and Valve have more variety? Why do PC Gamers love to be milked such as TF2 hats?
Oh well, PC Gamers no more excuses, stop being hypocrits.
