does Peter even play his own games? lol
he should go out and play some ps3 exclusives like GoW3 and Uncharted2 and see what AAA is all about.

once again peter over hypes and under delivers.lol wow its been a tough year for 360 gamers. aside from reach and alan wake the games have been lacking this year imo. kinect is the next flop on the horizon
Are you saying we wan't skynet in our games now?The absence of Milo kept it from being AAAA status.

You talk about 360 gamers as though you are not one, so if that's the case, how can you personally speak to Molyneux's games? Play many of them?once again peter over hypes and under delivers.lol wow its been a tough year for 360 gamers. aside from reach and alan wake the games have been lacking this year imo. kinect is the next flop on the horizon

[QUOTE="Rockman999"]Why would they make up for an awesome game? No I just meant that no one expected GS to give Vanquish an AAA score compared to other sites which were giving it AA and A scores. The last part of my previous post wasn't really meant to be taken seriously. :)FLOPPAGE! I had a feeling it was going to flop when I saw NineGN give it an 8.5. Man there have been a lot of flops lately, looks like GS is trying to make up for the Vanquish AAA score. :P

Yeah because he's only made games for the 360...that's where gaming history started right? Overhype and under deliver is right, and he was doing it long before the 360 was even around. i don't see what the big deal is, a 7.5 is alright, then again i never played the fable series so this would be a new exprience for me

The score's not that big of a deal. BUT Peter has continuously hyped fable to holy hell, and each time they've been a half assed mediocre RPG's. So it goes to show that the fable series has been nothing but mediocre. I mean 2 was alright. With the exception of A lack of bosses , a horrible ending, No real co-op, horrible endings, and empty promises for each game.,i don't see what the big deal is, a 7.5 is alright, then again i never played the fable series so this would be a new exprience for me

How would that help him, considering those games are absolutely NOTHING like Fable? Obviously the guy has some talent. I think he just has the wrong idea about what qualifies as "cool" game mechanics and how to properly implement them. He needs to give Fable a rest and try something new.
Seems like nobody is pushing the envelope anymore. It's the humdrum season of this gen for sure. Every sequel looks tired and typical. Bread_or_Decide
Platinum Games is continually pushing the envelope with every new release. They're masters.

As much as I love Vanquish and Bayonetta, they haven't pushed the envelope. Their just tweaking existing things to make them 10X better.[QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"]Seems like nobody is pushing the envelope anymore. It's the humdrum season of this gen for sure. Yeah I would agree with that more. i mean their games are so polished so refined and so good. Raising the bar is solid.I'd say that what Vanquish and Bayonetta did was no small feat. Esp the way Vanquish revs up the cover system thats being over used this gen. After Vanquish everything else is going to feel really slow. Hear that GEOW3? Time to step up. No more slow marines moving at a snails pace. Bread_or_Decide
I'm looking forward to Gears 3 but I fear Vanquish has spoiled me. Gears probably aint gonna feel as good as it used to. I don't know what they can do about it though. It wouldn't make much sense throwing thrusters on the COG armor...
Flopble III. Xplay should also retroactively apologize for naming Fable II game of the year. Just saying.Bread_or_DecideApologize for their opinion...well that's drastic. On topic, shocked to see it get a 7.5 on here.
I posted this in another thread but I'm gonna copy/paste it here because it's relevant to the topic.
I think it's the limitation of technology that's keeping him from making great games. By that I mean, what he's trying to achieve with Fable (basically attempting to emulate how real life operates) just isn't possible with today's technology. Until we have some big technological leaps he will always fail, with Fable anyways.

Or perhaps he knows what qualifies as cool mechanics but do not have the talent(as in staff) needed to implement these? Back in the Bullfrog days he made a ton of games with great gameplay(casual yes, but that's not the same as bad). I'm not saying that the guys at Lionheads are incompetent, far from it. I'm saying that it's like Peter got all these crazy good ideas(which always win us over in previews), but they are too complex and too many to be realized within the boundaries set by time and budget. So in the end we get these simplified mechanics which are shallow echoes of what we were hoping for(decorating houses -> switching fixed non-interactive objects and move carpets). Peter is like a kid in a candy store and he got too much pocket money(processing power). When that is said, Peter has always sucked at storytelling and this is why his moral choices will never work We as players just aren't engaged enough with the two dimensional NPCs and won't have a big dilemma deciding to sacrifice a woman to stay young(it's not like we would meet her again). In the end, 7.5/10 only means something to those who didn't like Fable 2 and wanted something different. I can't imagine Fable 3 being a disappointment to the rest of us.I posted this in another thread but I'm gonna copy/paste it here because it's relevant to the topic.

Heh :D I think it's the opposite, the processing power is there but the code has to be written and tested from scratch, no 3D party experience/help exist in the domain Peter explore.
If only he could stay still for a moment and finish an idea(like polishingthe touch system for Fable 4), but he keeps getting brand new ones. I would love to see other developers picking up some of his ideas.

I think the way he implemented alot of that stuff in Fable 2 was great. The issue with Fable 2 (IMO) was it losing its RPG-ness to adventure, the horrible co-op and tech bugs. All Molyneau had to do was add good co-op, improve the RPG elements and fix some of the technical bugs. Instead, he makes it more actiony and less RPG, and still doesnt fix the bugs. Really, they had something good going with co-op but now making it less of an RPG basically nullifys it. No doubt frustrating.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]

Yeah, he could possibly pull it off I guess, but he would need a pretty long development time like you say. Maybe not Duke Nukem Forever development time, but definitly longer than the standard 2-3 year dev time.

It seems to involve alot of trial and error. Unfortunately for him I don't think Microsoft is the most patient of publishers.
Wow, the Fable series just gets worse as each new game is released.
I actually had a chance to play some Fable 2 a week ago,and now I'm about 20 hours into Fallout NV I can see ,despite all of PM's BS and bluster, how irredeemably shallow and streamlined the Fable series is.
At first I was like WTF, then I remember I had the "lol" smiley AdBlocked (best thing you could ever do on these forums)LINKAGE OF FLOP
"This gorgeous world is brimming with humor and personality, but a bevy of technical problems and overly simplified gameplay distract from the fun"
Good:
- Strong and varied artistic design
- Consistently funny the whole way through
- Great musical score.
Bad:
- Shallow, tedious combat
- Lack of interesting moral choices until the end
- No emotional connection to any characters
- Lots of small technical problems.
I think I speak for myself when I say
 @ Fablejg4xchamp
That's a shame, when I read the little thing: "BUT a bevy of technical problems" I knew it would flop, especially after Fallout NV. Oh well, SW has something to feast on until the next game :P
