I hyped it as a great game. It is a great game. So no, it's not a flop. I really dislike this whole "some guys at System Wars think it's going to be AAA, so AAA is the game's official hype and everything under it is a flop". System Wars really have no freaking idea what a flop is.

The console version of Far Cry were not good, especially if you had played the PC version prior. And even then, ALL version, the PC version included, kind of left you with an empty feeling after they tossed out the awesome jungle-guerrilla elements after the first hour or so of the game.I don't know what Crytek was thinking when they tossed in the Trigen mutants. It was completely unnecessary, and I think everyone would have been content with just hunting mercs Vietcong-style in a tropical island setting.

Yea i was wondering that. I know those of us that were hyping it weren't expecting too much more than a AA score. I just assumed AAA based on the hype though, of which is has gotten a good amount. I do not recall an official hype thread though, like you said, i don't think one existed saying that AAA was the hype.

This may be repeating an earlier stated point, but when a game that I've been wanting for for months gets a AA score...it usually ends up with me enjoying it more than most AAA games that I wanted for months, and I treasure it for years to come. Im completely loving Fable 2 right now, and i didnt even start the main questline yet!

I wish there were Lions, Zebras, Hyenas, Giraffes, Cows, or other animals within the game, so you could strap them with explosive and lure them to the enemies and blow them up. Oh well.

All I can say is that the game felt like just another shooter and I wasn't blown away by it. I never bought it (It was Far Cry instincts I believe) due to lack of interest at the time. Maybe I should give it another shot with the 360 version.

I do have a serious question about Far Cry 2 though.

I heard some stories about enemies suffering from what I like to call "Halo syndrome". Meaning horrible AI when driving vehicles. Is this true? and how bad is it?

Yeah they had that, but it wasn't very effective. Usually the dogs got really scared when they got close to tanks that fired and ran back to their masters (where they blew up).

i know what you mean. far cry 2 should be done dl'ing for me around 5pm but im going to a hockey game tonight which should be amazing but damn im hyped for far cry 2!

either do i, it was reciveing lots of hype though but no one ever put a score infront of it. i allways recal people saying its "going to be a really good game!" and even if you look at the first few pages of this thread the predictions are 8.5ish oh well probably just angry fanboys.

According to GR, it's averaging about an 86. So, they really weren't too harsh on it compared to most reviewers.

Thats probably this games biggest flaw, lots of space thats completely useless, you'd expect them to at least use most the space but they don't its just landfill.

Guys at the pc games store short changed me $15aud grrrrrr - gotta chase that up.

Time to see how Crysis and FC2 stack up next to eachother.

My 22" wide monitor is being repaired, so im going to be playing it in 4:5........ however I hope they get a patch out the door soon, or someone whips one up quick.

Ubi seem to be pretty responsive on the matter apparantly... unlike 2K...

You can do what I did and put it at the 4:5 aspect then get your computer to respec it to widescreen ;)

Stealth pointless most the time anyway, you stealth kill someone and it alerts everyone anyway :P
