N64 vs PSOne, which was the console of YOUR choice?

Yeah, I know, we are locked in a fierce struggle between the Xbox 360, the PS3 and the Wii today, and the outcome of this generation of System Wars remains as unpredictable today as it was when the Wii first launched. But let's just step back a second, ok? LEt's just look back to 1996, when another, possibly fiercer, contest was taking place.

We really have no way of knowing what people might have been sayig then. But we have the benefit of hindsight. So, my fellow System Warriors, tell me, which, the PSOne or the N64, do you like more? And why?

I personally would go with the N64. Even though the Playstation seems to have made more of an impact, and is just more popular generally, I do believe that whenever anybody looks back to that generation and its games today, they remember the N64 games, and that no PSOne game, apart from maybe Final Fantasy VII and Metal Gear Solid, are actualy considered to be in the same league. Also, the N64's library to me was stellar, packing titles like Super MArio 64, Star Fox 64, F-Zero, the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Pokemon Stadium 2, Goldeneye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie and Super Smash Bros. Realy, what more do you want?

So anyway, which do YOU prefer? And why? Sound off!

N64 had the better games, but not the casual appeal.

i had both, but ps1 all the way baby!!!

I had a PS but I probably would have been better off with an N64. So many true 3d platformers that I missed out on. Also, I first played OOT on the Gamecube and now it's one of my favorite games.

N64.

The N64 was awesome, but the PS1 was better imo.

Owned both and enjoyed both, but PS1 is tied with SNES as my favorite consoles ever.

PS1 just because of FF7.

PSone for me, with games like FF7, FF8, FF9, xenogears, MGS, LOD, Chrono cross, vagrant story, parasite eve, FF tactics its an instant winner for me..

PS1 because i loved the games on it. Spyro, crash, metal gear solid, final fantasy 7-9. resident evil, chrono cross, etc.

Got my PS1 with Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot: Warped, good memories:D PS1 also introduced me to RPGs, which made it very memorable for me.

Had both. The PS1 sucked, imo. N64 brought classics. PS2 brought overrated blah. So N64 it is.

i had both, and the ps1 was easily my favorite. besides zelda, goldeneye and mario the n64 didn't have enough games to keep up with the ps1. the ps1 had ff7-9, resident evil 2, metal gear solid, final fantasy tactics, chrono cross, crash bandicoot, need for speed 3, tomb raider, and much better sports games.

Console wise, I gamed on my Saturn and N64. Games like Cyber Speedway, Panzer Dragoon, NBA Jam T.E, Sonic 3D Blast, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Fighter Remix, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Super Smash, Mario 64, Rogue Squadron etc. kept me busy for a long, long while.

ps1 without a 4 controller socket , is waste of time , most of the goo games were racing games to begin with besides the fre platformers such as crash and spyro ,

i dont see any reason why the thing sold over 100 million besides the fact that their cheap plasticy defective pieces of materail , ive had 2 blow fuses and loads of them stop reading all together ,

ps2 didnt change a thing ,

i was always getting dres ,

and ps3 the only one ive seem to not have a problem with doesn not have the games like twisted metal driver5 (canned) getaway(canned) nor many exclusives that are not hype based that arent that good ex. haze lair

back when i was younger i liked the N64 better, but now i like the PS1 more, mostly because it has a larger amount of good games, mostly RPGs which was seriously lacking on the N64.

I also think this has something to do with age. I was 20 when I got my ps3 in 1998, so outgrew nintendo....Sony was fresh with a new medium for games long games like rpgs with Final Fantasy that I grew up on with the NES and other genres that I used to play on my old 386 pc... I loved loved loved my ps1!!!!!

I didn't mean mature in that way, but it was rated M and even had an extra warning on the front saying that NOBODY under the age of 17 should ever play it.

That game was soooooooooooooo hilarious.
