The "official discussion threads" are getting kinda short, lately.

On topic, the game needs:

1) less Shiva.

2) a better inventory system.

3) yes, it needs shoot-&-run.

4) a bigger gun. It looks like a water gun.

5) more black enemies (it is Africa, right?)

6) a chainsaw enemy that kills you on contact

7) the walking/running/turning around/aiming mechanics need improvements

Hell yes to number 2. I like to pause the game to equip/use/give items. Having it in real-time annoyed me in Dead Space and it's annoying in RE5.

Finally now the whole first page wont be crowded with RE:5 threads anymore, I mean I'm really hyped for it but I can't stand to just talk about it again and again for like another month or so, so thx TC for finally making an official discussion thread.

Demo kicked butt. The 360 version seems to be a bit superior, but either system is amazing

can't wait to play it w/ buddies

If this game wasn't co-op, I would not be picking it up. Baby sitting Sheva and the controls are slightly unbearable. But having your friend on the other end screaming "I'm out of ammo and I'm dying, HELP ME!!!!" kindly makes up for it :)

I hope the game doesn't force coop on us. Games like this are better for single player, but it would be nice to have coop as a feature. The demo was way too easy with coop. I don't like the inventory system either. The game seems exactly like Resident Evil 4, gameplay-wise, but I didn't care for the 360 controller for this game.

The controls are meh.

I don't buy this "Oh but it's to keep the tension" BS. Capcom has already change the RE franchise so much into an action game, just give us controls that aren't awkward and clunky.

You can't run while moving the camera, you can't reload while moving, you can't aim while moving, you can't run and turn a corner without stopping.

Honestly this is kinda stupid.

When did RE4 have a buddy system, like RE5? When did RE4 have animations like RE5's? (that react according to the enviroment) When did RE4 have a variety of melee attacks and combo melee attacks? When did RE4 have a co-op system like RE5's? the core gameplay of moving and shooting is the same, but god the RE4 in HD has to die...its a squeal and it does more than enough to make it a proper one. RE4 was 1 game that used that system, why would the next be different, considering RE123 code verionica were pretty much the same gameplay wise?

never played RE4 have you? We don't need the Hardcore RE fans screaming even louder on here on how Capcom sold them out. RE5 while is more ACTION it still about the tension and survival aspect...adding moving and shooting with such enemies makes it TOO easy, considering RE5 isn't a war shooter. YOU don't have enemies with guns do you? The stop and shoot gameplay is much more realistic, too....when do professionals run around and shoot? Look at swat/cops..these guys are pro's (swat team) that need to make shots count and you don't do that by moving and shooting, do you? Don't come to RE5 expecting gears of war...totally different games.

The real-time inventory in Dead Space was nice but the one in RE5 is lame and ugly. The whole menu interface is rather ugly.

Also the screens in coop. Why are you wasting so much of my HDTV with empty black space?

Yeah, it is tense and realistic. But when you need to switch weapons and you're surrounded by enemies it's still annoying :P

Where the hell did I say "RE4 have animations like RE5's" or "RE4 in HD". Oh, and as for buddy system, Resident Evil 4 had Ashley, though she didn't do anything and was a nuisance unless she had armor on. I didn't say anything about Resident Evil 5 looking like Resident Evil 4.

lol, you wish...everyone who has played BOTH version (including me) have said its identical VISUALLY. (concerning detail/environmental textures, etc) Only difference is NON graphics related, Framerate, explosions etc...from what i've heard the PS3 version is an older build. but the final version will have had that ironed out.

RE4 controls were better than what we played on the demo. RE4 gameplay was not designed for two sticks. It feels forced, now.

I have played RE4. I get what you're saying. Running and shooting isn't the RE sty|e But at some point you have to change things. The controls for RE5 are just clunky.

I would prefer to have run and shoot and have smarter, maybe faster enemies.

Also there are enemies with projectiles weapons in the demo. I don't remember if it's a flaming crossbow or a bomb but yeah.

change the controls to RE4's...then? the PS3 version allows no strafing and plays just like RE4 on the PS2..except square is to shoot and X is to run, etc.

If you can do that then it is awesome. I thought there was only the standard configuration. Gotta check that demo again.

That clunky ness go's away over time..i know what you mean..i felt it when i first played it..after playing so much gears of war, but now i love it (the Shooter controls Type D) I love how there is a much slow pace of gameplay, i love how you have to time your reloads and know when to do them and when not too, RE5 creates that much needed tension during gameplay and the needed surival aspect comes from needing to worry about sheva, its intense, when you have low ammo due to the MANY infected villages trying to kill you. If you have played the previous RE games you would understand. Again, its just a demo, while the gameplay won't change, i'm sure many parts of the final game will have you interested. (story/levels, etc)

No way, it clearly says before you start the game, its labelled the RE4 controls scheme....;) You can even play it like 4 while having the ability to strafe.

I'd like to say 3 things: 1. Though I had no problem with the stop to aim mechanic of RE4, this was due to the games 1-stick setup that made this feel like a natural limitation of the controls. The dual-stick control setup in RE5 makes this mechanic feel forced. Not that this really matters. 2. Sheva is annoying. She keeps taking my ammo and her provision of cover takes out the tension. 3. In the 360 to PS3 graphics comparison, the X360 version has a sharper look to it. Some are claiming a difference in texture resolution but closer inspection shows the texture detail to be completely identical (therefore it must be of the same resolution). The real culprit is AA; The X360 version has real AA whilst the PS3 version has deflicker.

Personally i think the game will be fine Only thing while i do like the inventory system...i think navigating it is kind of clunky and not as smooth as Dead Space(to me)..don't know what it is...It just isn't there That said...I like the game...Shiva is a total idiot if you are playing Solo...but I am sure the game will be fun either way...If it gets to a point where it is just too boring in SP and better with COOP..i;ll just coop the game.

[QUOTE="Luigi_Vincetana"]I'd like to say 3 things: 1.

Play the game like 4 then...no biggie. The game feels great IMO when using the shooter controls (360) love it. Sheva can be annoying, but you can always ask her for that ammo back, remember ;) as for the graphics, both are identical from what i''ve played (i have both demo's) Don't believe those silly articles saying otherwise. Only differences come from non graphical elements.

[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]Personally i think the game will be fine Only thing while i do like the inventory system...i think navigating it is kind of clunky and not as smooth as Dead Space(to me)..don't know what it is...It just isn't there That said...I like the game...Shiva is a total idiot if you are playing Solo...but I am sure the game will be fun either way...If it gets to a point where it is just too boring in SP and better with COOP..i;ll just coop the game.

3 reviews so far have given it a 5/5 i believe....srsly tho, this is what i hate about devs releasing demo's it gives the overall game a bad look when one little thing is critisized (making people not bother playing the final game) People will be stunned come the retail version and when they have finished the story/seen it all. there will be plenty of intense and interesting elements and moments in the game..we haven't seen much. Capcom have keepin things under raps. (good parts)

I think people are going to be surprised at how good this game is going to be, not calling it the game of forever like Resident Evil 4 was, but just when you think you've seen it all, Capcom mixes it up. Of course that doesn't fix your guys complaints about controls though, which I'm totally fine with.

I liked it, especially co-op with a friend. It isn't the game I once loved on PS1 and Gamecube(remakes)but its still awesome and fun.

I didn't and playing co-op with a buddy was not that special.Half of my screen existed out of a black bar and the framerate dropped quite a few times.

I'll probably stick to the standard controls, I just thought it was worth a mention. As for the graphical difference, I've only played the PS3 version so I'm going by the Eurogamer screen comparison, from what I could tell the only difference was that the PS3 version had a blurry filter. I'm assuming the capture method was the same so that means the culprit was AA, as I said. I was just annoyed at the guys claiming it's textures because. Anyway, I need to finish that demo (I keep dieing because I can't be bothered keeping up the hit and run tactics with the axe and chainsaw wielders).
