Disappointed we won't get Metroid Prime 2 Remastered.

Curiously, they did not show Metroid Prime 2 in the future lineup for the GameCube online console. I figure that would be a big one to show off if it was going straight to the GameCube console.
I think there is still hope.
I think it's hilarious of Nintendo's charging for the interactive game that gives more information about the switch 2.😂
Yeah that is goofy. Should have been baked into the hardware itself.
It really should have been. Not surprised though. It was the same with 1,2, Switch, and apparently Reggie had to push hard to get Wii sports bundled with the console. Miss that guy.

Yeah missed opportunity for Nintendo there. Upon booting up the Switch 2 for the first time and runs through the setup stuff, should have had the option to play an interactive instruction manual. That would have been a suitable quirk you would come to expect from Nintendo.
Up to $175 trade-in for Switch 1 towards Switch 2 reservation at GameStop https://t.co/nQ8KMNPMJdpic.twitter.com/jzz6FYWfzj

I rarely don't do trade-ins for games and stuff but since Switch 2 does have BC, I'll make this an exception for my launch Switch as I really don't need it anymore.
@lundy86_4: I even said that in another thread stating that every gaming media was pushing Rockstars pricing GTA6 $100 but it turns out nobody expected Nintendo to pull the trigger first by pricing their 1st-party to $80 mark. I see Rockstars pricing GTA6 $80 but $100 is really pushing it.
Nintendo's Price announcement is poor and given the price of Mario Kart World gave me a bad taste as it is making people believe that all Switch 2 game are going to be priced at $80-90
Yeah, allowing what is effectively going to be the face of the Switch 2 library cost 80 dollars mislead a lot of people.
Not a fan of Nintendo's model of pricing 10 extra for their premium games. And this time, it may genuinely have backfired.

Mainly, I felt when they made TotK $70 as they treated it as a premium game was their testing grounds. Mario Kart is their marquee franchise, so pushing it up to $80 is somehow them justifying such a ridiculous price.
Overall: the Direct was very good. The hardware exceeded my expectations, the new 1st-party games look very promising and it looks like 3rd-parties are ready to dive in for full support. If I were to merit the contents of the Direct alone: fantastic.
Now the stinker: the Direct refrained from revealing prices of the hardware, games and upgrades. I think Nintendo knew the prices would be a major buzz kill had they put them in the Direct.
Looking across the general reactions online, looks like the prices of the games are shaking so many people up.
In the past Nintendo lowered the price of the 3DS after its own price backlash, and I'm hoping that will happen again with this one.

I see that more as fear people would rather subscribe and play the old one rather than buy the new one. Which is the same reason why DK64, Mario Kart Double Dash, Kirby Airride, any of the old Pokemon's, etc won't be added.
Think that Nintendo set these prices where they did because of expected US tariffs? Or are they about to announce even higher prices for US in the next days?

A new type of cartridge has been revealed: "game-key cards".
These cartridges do not have any data on them, and you will need to download the game from the Internet like a digital version. In addition, the cartridge must be inserted to play.https://t.co/hycZ9p8tq1pic.twitter.com/oAq3s4ZmdL
Console players: We like physical games.
Nintendo: Okay, but what if?
Now that the dust settled, that new Donkey Kong game is probably the game I would want to play most out of everything they showed (besides Deltarune 3+4, and setting aside Elden Ring above all of course). I don't really like any Donkey Kong Country games, but this looks fun in a Ratchet & Clank way where you get to destroy everything around you, but they also get into destroying the terrain around you too which could be a lot of fun.
I think I am going to start a new Elden Ring character after I play Bloodborne for a bit doing the 10 year anniversary thing online. Damn I guess that will be around the Switch 2 launch. Well, if I get a Switch 2 around then, I will get down on Elden Ring on that thing.
Not a fan of the red physical boxes.. hopefully it's better than what the pictures look like lol
Yeah, the new boxes look ugly. This guy below makes a great point

I did really enjoy the Direct itself. Like the system and its features and functionality. Quite a good showcase of games. Really liked:
- Mario Kart World
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
- Bravely Default: Flying Fairy
- Kirby Air Riders
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World
- Metroid Prime 4 Switch 2 Edition
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch 2 Edition
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Edition
- Donkey Kong Bananza
- The Duskbloods
- GameCube on NSO

Switch 2 Launch Day Lineup:
Do like seeing some great third party games hitting the Switch 2. I currently have both Street Fighter 6 and Elden Ring on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. May even get the Switch 2 versions of those games as well.
So previous gen switch controllers can work on switch 2? I see pro and joy cons can, but is that just for switch games.or switch 2 games too?
I'd be surprised if they didn't. They're almost identical except for a couple of extra programmable buttons at the back.
There'll probably be a few games that need the Switch 2-specific controls (like the mouse functionality), but I imagine the vast majority will be compatible with the Switch 1 Pro.
I'm mixed on the Switch 2. The new Mario Kart and Donkey Kong game looks great but the prices of the games is just too expensive. If Nintendo lowered them or the very least have their games go on sale all the time like you see with PC games than it would be great.
DF did a special ahead of their direct weekly:
They all agree that the pricing is really aggressive and most of the hardware itself could have been explain in much details. Overall in my opinion, Switch 2 is hardly innovating anything and that's a shame as I value Nintendo's striving for innovation on their consoles. This is just them playing it safe. Probably would have felt better if it was called Switch Pro.
Looks really neat. Even the gimmicky stuff is alright. Just not a fan of their lineup. Really not much interesting for me. Even the From Software game looks phoned in as hell. And it seems to be heavily multiplayer focused. Big meh. Honestly, the big one is the upgraded Tears of the Kingdom. Haven't played that one and was specifically waiting for something like this. But that's one old game. Metroid 4 is another one, actually. Was also expecting something from Xenoblade Chronicles X, but maybe (hopefully) that comes later. Working on that 4K/60fps.
The pricings are bad, but also whatever since everyone's going in on it. Including the Iranian grocer close by. Plus my day one purchases are only for stuff I'm really interested in. Like Dynasty Warriors and Earth Defense Force.
Feels more like a Switch Pro. I'm gonna wait and pick one up down the line. Maybe when it's cheaper, too. Not that the price bothers me much. Maybe they'll have a 3DS situation on their hands, but I really doubt that.
I also enjoyed Nintendo having an entire segment dedicated online chatting options in the year 2025.
@Maroxad: It gives me the impression they will offer seasons with new world maps.
Still item chaos and blue shell bs tho. The most interesting parts to me look like the non-racing parts going off-road looking for easter eggs.
If they just made Goat Simulator in a kart then that would be good but instead it has all that racing stuff.
@davillain: thank you for having it pinned for the time. We don’t do these type of threads for a long time.
Im cool with $450 for the console. What i expected (sony is charging $700 for the pro, so this isnt a crazy number) Overall the presentation was great, hardware wise and 1st party/3rd party software wise. I was like wow! ok Nintendo, that was an A- Presentation. Only thing that bugged me was game chat being tied to the online subscription.. Nintendo come on.. thats a basic ass feature in 2025... But everything else, was great.
Then i saw these $80(digital)-$90(physical) price on 1st party software... WTF is that Nintendo.. Way to shoot yourself in the foot. Like you were doing great, people were excited for the console and the games.. knocked it out the park with 3rd party support.. and then you do some dumb shit..
I typically buy everything physical on the switch. So its super disappointing. It was actually one of the reasons i preferred the switch over PS and Xbox last gen.. Alot of the 1st party was all on the cart. So the games when you bought them held their value. (unlike a disk that requires a big download alot of times on Xbox/PS just to start playing)
$90 for a physical cart of MK World is wild. MK8 did great, one of the best selling games of all time for nintendo.. I dont think this one will sell half of MK8 with a $80-$90 price tag. Ninty shooting themselves in the foot.
I might hold off a bit on this one. Shame too.. was excited for it, but im not diving into the eco system untill i can see where all the software lays out at, Ninty doesnt usually discount, im curious if thier plan is to sell 1st party $80-$90 in the very beginning and then over a few months discount to $50-$70 (which is the range most of these games should be released at)
At the end of the day this is Sony who proved you could do it, Sony jacks the games up to $70 and people ate it, Sony charges for cross gen updates and people ate it, and now Ninty sees what Sony got away with is and is going to try it themselves.
lol love the deflection to Sony. $70 games were inevitable. But $90 for games that don’t have nearly the amount of production values or content? That’s Nintendo thinking their fans will pony it up.
@SolidGame_basic: Wouldnt call it deflection to Sony, would call it acknowledging reality. I dont like what either of them are doing. We saw Sony with thier pro prices, we saw them increase price on software, we saw them charge for cross gen enhancements (when MS was doing them for free) and now we see Ninty doing the same BS...
MS looking VERY consumer friendly right now, they already did, but wow...
I guess this explains on why Nintendo had to increase their taxes:
Just announced:
— Shinobi602 (@shinobi602) April 2, 2025
The U.S. will tariff products from Vietnam at a 46% rate. Could heavily impact Switch 2 pricing, possibly globally.

It's really not just Nintendo but the whole gaming market is heading to the luxury era at this point. It's a good thing I game on PC and use Nintendo consoles just for exclusives. Not like I buy every Nintendo exclusives so it's looking like 1 game per year with Nintendo as I do get more gaming with them.
Yea I'm not buying a switch 2. Just put my order in for a Retroid Pocket 5. I'll just play switch games and other systems on that!
See ya Nintendon't ✌️
It's up for £395.99 for the base system and £429.99 mario kart bundle. Undecided want to know more about backwards compatility.

Rich coming from you...Sony charging the amount they did for the Pro plus separating the disc drive and stand and Sony knew fanboys like yourself would "pony it up" as you went ahead and bought the whole bundle 😂
