Oh my goodness dude. I've wasted too much time going over this with you already. Anybody with common sense would know that the GI poll is BS. It would be like throwing a poll up here. Asking the same questions and expecting to get an accurate number. That poll would be flooded with cows saying they all have gone through 6-10 consoles. Even when some have never owned a 360. There's no way to verify if they did or didn't. You cannot take that poll's numbers seriously. Just like you can't take the GI poll seriously.
Also anybody with common sense would know that you cannot say that x amount of consoles should be removed from the sales figures just because a certain percentage of consoles failed. You have no idea how many people actually repaired their consoles, and how many people bought new ones to replace the failed ones. Since you have no hard facts what you are doing is speculating. Also known as talking out of your ass.
BTW you do know that the link you provided is just an IGN article referencing the same GI poll that most people know was BS right?
Anyway....Continue with your delusional thinking. I've got better things to do than argue the same points over and over with you.

The Xbox 360's proclivity for suffering the infamous three red lights / Red Rings of Death hardware failure is legend these days. Despite Microsoft's initial claims that hardware failures were a slim 3% through much of the console's first year of availability, the gaming community knew otherwise, with real-world failure rates estimated to be in the 40-80% range for consoles manufactured in the first production runs.
Â
lol
Â
And interesting article i found made on 2007..
Â
Now that Microsoft has done the right thing about the Xbox 360's rampant hardware problems, one key question remains:
What is the failure rate for the system? MS won't say. The Seattle Times quotes MS games boss Robbie Bach (left):Suffice it to say that with a billion-dollar charge and the focus we're putting on this that it's a meaningful number.
While normal console failures are apparently in the sub-5% range, some reports have estimated that 360's throw the red rings at a rate as high as 33%.
Here are the numbers that are known. The Times (and other sites) are reporting that MS has shipped 11.6 million Xbox 360's to date, but the failure rate remains a mystery. The addition of a three-year warranty for the rings of death failure is expected to cost MS a cool billion dollars, so:(11,600,000 * X) * Y = 1,000,0000,000
...where 11.6m is the number of systems shipped; X is the failure rate and Y is the total cost to MS per replaced unit. This works out to:Y=86/XÂ
Now, math is not especially GP's strong suit, but if each repair (Y) costs MS $100, that translates to a staggering failure rate of 86%.
At $200, the failure rate is 43%. At $300 it's 29%. At $400, it's 22%
At the high end, the $400 repair cost on a 22% failure rate is very unlikely. Since that is the current system's MSRP, why bother to repair?  They could just send you a new 360 to replace your dead one.
On the other end, the 86% scenario seems pretty extreme (perhaps not if you're one of the unfortunates who have lost multiple 360's to the dreaded rings).
Â

Â
This is math is very simple way to get estimates,MS charged people $150 for RROD repairs at $200 the fail rate within those 11+ milion units would have been 45% at $150 dollars much more.
Is not 100% accurate but gives you an idea of how big the problem was, specially on 2005 and 2006 units which were the worst model,by july 2007 there were 11+ million units which carry RROD over their head,i am sure here most of you if not all have slim 360 by now.
Â
[QUOTE="kuraimen"]Your logic has a flaw which makes it pretty illogical. If cows were to flood a survey in such a way what will prevent lems of doing the same? Do lems magically disappeared? For some reason Sony consoles attract way more crazies than any other console manufacturer, you, Shewgenja, Brofists, El Tormo etc. are all prime examples of how crazy cows can get.
So obviously because there's a good percentage more crazy fanboy cows in the world, most polls get skewed in Sony's favour.
Yeah you people are the ones hiding on the PS2 and wanting to believe that RROD was nothing, yet we are the crazies people..
I have had 4 360's fail. i had 5 Ps1's fail, which i stated in my post if you read it properly, 3 of my Ps1's the Plastic cog in the Laser unit broke 3 (they where flimsy as hell )and the other 2 had DRE, my memory doesn't fail me at all, i had more Ps1's fail on me than 360's, end ofdelta3074
Â
Really what where the failures you got on your so call PS1.?
I would really love this one, since the PS1 did not had fail moniquer attach to it,it over heat and cause FMV to start skipping that was about it,and latter models did not do that,it was the very first models.
The xbox 360 has a recorded fail rate, and the compan who sold them extrended its warranty to 3 years which cost them 1 cool billion, you can invent all the sh** you want the PS1 did not had a fail rate like the 360 or close.
If the any 360 unit from 2005 or 2006 would be a human,it would have like 4 or 5 terminal deseases dude, that horrible was the fail rate oh and the fail rate wasn't just one problem,it was many from memory,to GPU and CPU to scalar you name it anything inside the console could fail.

Secondly, its CONFIRMED the PS2 shipped at the very least 2.6 million units, so why you are all acting iike PS2 sales were insignificant is beyond me. Quit burying your head in the sand.
Thirdly, reports from SONY say that revenues slipped due to slowing demand for the PS3, PSP and PS Vita. No mention of the PS2 in there. Considering the PS2 was nearing the end of its life, Sony could have very well wanted to get as many PS2s out there as possible. It makes sense with them now launching the PS3 is countires such as Brazil.
Theres no mention that they shipped less PS2s in FY12, yet there is mention they shipped less PS3s, PSPs and PS Vitas. Therefore its not reaching to conclude that the PS2 shipped near 4 million units again for the year, and that the PS3 iis currently around 76 million shipped.
Add to that, Sony never mentioned overtaking the 360 - not even a small bullshit PR sentence - and all signs point that its still in last place.

Bottom line is that both consoles sold well. Both consoles had failures, and some were replaced with new consoles. Since you have no factual numbers of how many were replacements. You have no basis to start trying to remove any sales numbers.

Your logic has a flaw which makes it pretty illogical. If cows were to flood a survey in such a way what will prevent lems of doing the same? Do lems magically disappeared? Surveys are never perfect but they provide a good approximation. Hell anyone can lie when asked for whom they're voting yet voting surveys predict results frequently because usually the people who answer serially outweigh those who don't.Shewgenja
My logic is not flawed. The point of what I was saying is that poll made up of random people who just reply without some kind of verification cannot be taken seriously. Sure Lems would do the same thing, as would other factions. That's why the poll cannot be taken seriously.
Why I mentioned cows in my statement, was because most of the time when someone says they have been through 7 or 8 Xbox 360s. It's usually someone like you. Who so obviously bows at the Sony altar, and has probably never owned an Xbox 360 in the first place.

XBOX360: 75,4 million units sold
PlayStation3: 74,5 million units soldÂÂ

I'm primarily an Xbox gamer (until the next gen at least) and I know many people who have been through multiple Xbox 360 consoles. A pre Slim Xbox 360 is the one piece of consumer electronics that I couldn't recommend somebody buying preowned.Murderstyle75
Nobody, well at least not me, is saying that there weren't people that went through multiple Xbox 360s. What this all started from was the TC trying to say that because some informal Game Informer poll said that 54% of all Xbox 360s have failed years ago. That we should then subtract around that same number from the over all Xbox 360 sales numbers. Thus putting the PS3 firmly in 2nd place. Â
My arguments were these:
1) That no one knows how many of those 360s were actually bought as replacements. So logically you couldn't just subtract these numbers off the top.
2) That many of the people who did have their consoles fail, didn't just run out and buy replacements. Some had their consoles fixed by MS. Some had their consoles fixed by other sources. Some fixed them themselves. Some just abandoned the Xbox brand all together. So there is no way to say without some official numbers how many people replaced their broken 360s with a new unit. Not a replacement from MS, but a new sale.Â
3) That the failure rate was probably closer to 30-35%. Which was the numbers quoted by numerous companies that would know. Not the 54% from an informal magazine poll.
4) That when you have a poll that is an informal poll taken of a random sampling of people, with no way to verify that they actually owned the said console. You cannot hold that poll up as fact, Mainly because other fanboy groups could manipulate the numbers. Just like they would do on here if a poll was created.
5) That if we are going to subtract Xbox 360s that were bought as replacements for failed units. The the same thing should hold true for PS3s that have been bought as replacements for YLoD, DRE issues, Blu-ray diode failures, and other issues...seems fair right?
Since I honestly don't care who is in 2nd, and who is in 3rd and was only trying to point out the flaws in the TC logic. Which honestly is like trying to debate Physics with a common house cat. I am done repeating the same things over and over.

Where did I say that?
I was just following your reasoning. I've seen, in my own experience, friends go through three or four of the things. Now, I know what you're going to say, "Of course, you'd say that, you are a filthy cow." So, let's just sidestep whether or not I am a cow for a little bit and examine the argument. You're saying that whenever someone says they've been through a bucket o' 360s that they are at some degree a 360-hater.. But, what has me scratching my head is, how you would expect anyone to still feel a fondness of a console that may or may not be part Cat with how many lives it has. I guess, I just don't get it.[QUOTE="coasterguy65"][QUOTE="Shewgenja"] So, what you're saying is, someone should go through 4 XBox 360s and like a good soldier, get back on the field waving that big green banner proudly?Shewgenja

There's nothing wrong with having pride in one's favorite system. Defending it blindly..yes.
Like I said in my previous post. I don't doubt that people have gone through 3-4 Xboxs. I know people that have if you count the ones MS replaced for free. I'm also not saying no one went out and bought 3-4 Xbox 360s. It's possible. I don't know. I've never seen it happen, but I wouldn't rule it out.
What I was saying is that most people I have seen on here that throw some ridiculous number out like 8 Xboxs re-bought are usually PS3 fanboys that you know have never owned an Xbox 360. I was not saying that everyone who says it is a PS3 fanboy, just usually that it is known fanboys.
Is your body ready for third place?Dang this thread doubled in posts the last time I saw it. What are people still arguing about. I thought people pretty much ended it on the first page really. Sony is combining PS3 and PS2 sales. Not really more deep than that.Â

Ahh, I see. The eight Xboxes being the hyperbole. Makes much more sense. I read you loud and clear.Â
More crazy conspiracy theories from eltooooooooormo, i bet the tin-foil makers in your country of residence just love you and your kids. I assume they've converted (by force) to the Church of Sonyology like you?.
