So you havent even played the game and your telling ME what the game I HAVE played it is ;) (Ive owned, beaten, and traded it in BTW)
It is a fully open world game. You can visit the entire map from the beginning of the game. The story progresses linearly (so does RDR, GTA4, Infamous 2) but it is an open world game. In fact, im pretty sure it has one of the largest maps in an open world game. The map was massive. The progression of the story means nothing. The game map is as fully open world as GTA/RDR. The only difference is that there is not much motivation/incentive to actually explore that world, because the game gives you the option to "fast travel" immediately to the next mission right from the start of the game, therefore nobody ever bothers to explore it.

lol'd.
During my playthrough it has been significantly better at scope, exploration, general dungeoning and various combat-related mechanics than things like characters, character, dialog. narrative and the influencing thereof, which tends to be my main motivation for playing through an RPG. I appreciate the things it does well, but after 30 hours I find myself getting a bit bored with it. Going through the motions just traveling from one place to another and pressing A on various NPC's.
Maybe I'm just playing it wrong. Maybe I should read other people's impressions and focus on the quests and questlines that are deemed to be worthwhile. I'll say that the Companions questline is not great, aside from the one thing where wool falls in you...
The Pelagius Wing quest was pretty good. Things like that have been sparingly sprinkled around in the overworld. Could use more of that, but I suppose to some degree Bethesda wanted to maintain a general tone.
[QUOTE="StrongDeadlift"][QUOTE="Jolt_counter119"]This. Its not about them not liking the PS3 specifically, its just that they dont give a f*ck in general. They know people are going to snatch their game up on hype alone, which is why they released such a buggy game in the first place. Game companies have started treating their fanbases like abused housewives, and then know we are just going to bend over and take it like the b**ches we are. That must also be why its STILL an unpolished game reguardless ;) (and on ALL systems)
But you know, for a game that ISNT unpolished, Bethesda sure seems to be making alot of press releases addressing the (apparently "nonexistant") issue.
RDR ran perfectly on PS3. Prolly the most polished game this gen. L.A. Nore, Infamous 2..... Im sure there are dosens of open world games I am leaving out that release a polished game.....I would have said Assassins Creed, but.....lol.

modders can't fix a lot of these bugs, its engine issues which modders can't touch.I don't care how broken or mediocre it is. I play games to have fun, and quite honestly I've had 115 hours of pure enjoyment from playing skyrim so far.
I don't care that combat isn't the most developed, or the npc's are on a loop (I really thought the voice overs were good,) I don't care that a lot of the time I really don't care for the quests. I've been having a lot of fun, and besides the game breaking framerate problems on PS3, I don't really have any bones to pick with skyrim.

[QUOTE="mitu123"][QUOTE="Da_lil_PimP"] Doubt Bethesda really cares. They got the reviews, got the sales, and when they release their next game, it'll be just as well received as Skyrim. It's so refreshing to hear some sense. I've played it, and it's a very pretty game, with a huge world, but that said, all your points are valid. It definitely does not deserve goty. On the other hand, the artform that deserved perfect 10s everywhere, SKYWARD SWORD deserves it, because it's actually a good game. Any rating lower than a 9 for Skyward Sword is pretty much fanboyism or doingitwrong.
Agreed. It's decent and has an impressive scale but doesn't really excel at any particular aspect and therefore doesn't deserve such a title. The fact that you can list all of the game's flaws and the usual argument you'll get in return is something utterly retarded like "lol you haven't played it!" is a testament to that fact. You will often hear the exact same crap when you say such things about Oblivion and Fallout 3 too.
anything thats infested with bugs/glitches should have no chance at GOTYcampzor
You pretty much listed 9/10 games, theres a saying "no game is perfect". You look at any goty at any site it will have some sort of flaw, but like I said the sheer amount of stuff you can do in Skyrim is amazing and thats why people love it and not to mention the landscape in Skyrim is just bad ***
