@rjthakid: all they would be doing is localizing it. That’s all the US team’s job. The Japanese team works on the DLC. Would still make financial sense but I bet they thought the Switch wasn’t gonna be doing this well.

I had a hell of a haul. I’ve never seen the park near my house so packed before. I hope they do more of these. Saturday morning/afternoon is also the perfect time to do it.

@xnshd: I never once said it was going to be mainstream. I just said it improves a lot of existing types of games and has exceeded sales expectations. Saying “its a fad” means it will fade away and disappear like 3D TVs, motion controls, and Kinect (weirdly enough VR is the fusion of those 3 technologies). Exceeding sales expectations just means that there’s more interest than they thought and the market is healthy. Like visual novels and telltale style games, they are niche, but still sell well for those who are interested and definitely aren’t going anywhere. By saying that, you assumed I was saying it would be mainstream in the video game space and I never once said that.

@xnshd: guess what? Voicing my opinion creates a demand for stuff like this. And there are plenty of smaller games that are a blast but they’re shorter games. It’s kinda baffling how against the idea of VR you are. It’s not gonna replace traditional methods of playing, but supplement them and give people more options. If you don’t like it, just ignore it. Don’t shit on it.

@xnshd: All I have to say is that games that rely on immersion like Resident Evil 7 and ES are a vastly superior in VR. The increased field of vision, natural aiming mechanics, and the fact you're cutting off distractions of the outside world, the difference in immersion is night and day. I guess you could say that VR has kinda ruined me for 1st person games. RE7 lost most of its appeal when I tried paying it in standard mode. Still a great game either way, but it's like playing the Witcher 3 in 4K/60FPS and then playing it in 720p/30FPS. To each their own but unless Bethesda totally botches the VR mode for ES6, I couldn't imagine playing it in anything but VR.

The one anime that wouldn’t have gotten flak for whitewashing gets done by Japanese actors. Hollywood should have tried their hand at FMA instead of GITS.

@xnshd: considering the price and amount of quality content out right now, 2 million is a pretty solid sales figure and a lot higher than anyone was expecting. Once the prices come down (which it has) and more games come out, it will increase. The biggest casual appeal will be the fact you will soon be able to watch live content like concerts and sporting events in VR. Imagine all the people who wanna go to a high profile concert like Beyoncé. Those concerts always sell out in minutes. It will be pretty appealing to a lot of people if they can fork over $20 or $30 and get a front row seat in VR. Or watch the Super Bowl from the sidelines with changeable camera positions. This is first gen.

I don’t know about you, but playing the next Elder Scrolls game in VR sounds incredible. Skyrim VR is rough at best but I could imagine how amazing it could be if it were implemented as well as Resident Evil 7. Obviously it’s not gonna sell better than the console it runs on, but like I said 2 million is a solid number so far.

@xnshd: PSVR doubled Sony's expectations. They predicted 750K in the first year and sold 1.5 mil. They were sold out for months. If they make more incredible experiences like Resident Evil 7, Superhot, and Eagle Flight (a lot better than you think), and if games like Elder Scrolls VI have compatibility, it will continue to grow in popularity. My dad has never been impressed by video games and I've been trying to since I was a kid. The second he put on that helmet, he said "WOW!" and proceeded to confirm this was the first time he's ever been impressed by anything I've ever shown him. He was really impressed by the NFL stuff too and that was super early tech demo stuff. The first generation of VR is already pretty impressive. The future of VR is bright.

@customx5: unfortunately no. I got the first rev as a gift and I’m really upset about the lack of HDR passthrough but it’s more of an inconvenience if anything. I just have to unplug the HDMI from the breakout box when I play an HDR capable game.

@joshrmeyer: If I play Eagle Flight for more than an hour or if I make too many really sharp turns, I can get a little queasy but I’m fairly resistant to motion sickness in general. Resident Evil 7 didn’t make me sick at all. I played it for about 3 hours straight when I first got it. Jon Simulator would get out of whack every once in a while and it would hit me hard. I think experiences will vary from game to game.
