I'm excited. People give mobile games a lot of flak, but mobile game development has evolved a long, long way, a lot further than most gamers are willing to give credit to. Most modern mobile games are more developed than games from the first PS years. While there's certainly a massive trash heap of horrible clones with little more than a money gobbling formula to get players to cough up cash, there are plenty of games that are legitimately worth the time, including ports of games like FFIX and the FFXV remake for mobile. A developer like Platinum jumping into the mobile field only further makes mobile game development more legitimate.
Far Cry 2 is easily the worst of the franchise. Dull in every way. I must have made it through half the game before giving up out of sheer boredom. FC has improved with every iteration since, and FC5 is the best of the franchise yet.
@furiouswk: It's called evolving the franchise. If things stayed the same every single game, it'd get stale. By GoW III, the franchise was showing signs of wear. Kratos, after having spent years as a relentlessly angry killing machine maybe decided to be done with that after killing the father if gods, Zeus.
Fall 2018....until it gets delayed again. As much as I'm looking forward to the game, by the time they actually release it, both the show and the comic may be finished.
@Phazevariance: Not learning much about his backstory means treating him basically like every other boring villain in the MCU. There should take a clue from Kilmonger and Loki and actually develop him in the same way. His back story from the comics makes him more sympathetic. I have a feeling that will be lost in the movie in favor of the massive cast if superheroes.
I'll miss Hawkeye, I've always enjoyed how grounded he is and how he's still an awesome guy even though he's got all this larger than life stuff going on around him. However, I don't really understand how they won't get into Thanos backstory and yet it's all about him and from his point of view. The comics are pretty clear about his motivations and, if they stick to the same story (which it sounds like they won't), his backstory is directly related to his current motivations and actions. That makes me think that this may be yet another empty villain. If there's any villain that deserves an examination of their backstory, it's Thanos. He's been teased for years and years as a villain we would eventually meet. We have to sympathize with him and understand him in order for him to live up to what we've been teased. Otherwise, he's just another boring, powerful bad guy on a long list of the same for the MCU.
I love these kinds of films purely for their creative originality and interesting uses of film technique. I've always loved a good use of silence in a movie. People underestimate how effective it can be, but silence used in good ways can be extremely effective. The same can be said for empty, dark, negative spaces. It's these two things that often create the most dread. I am really looking forward to this, even if the plot seems fairly basic. I'd already heard good things about this from pre-screenings, but it's nice to see confirmation of the film being as good as people have been saying.
But this defeats the entire purpose of RPO existing. If you're incapable of simply enjoying RPO for what it is and all the geeky, fanboy goodness, it's not for you. It exists because it can and because it allows fanboys to play out their ultimate fantasies. People can do anything and be anyone, rules be damned. If the rules actually mattered to the story, sure, we could bitch about all the holes all day long. But in the end, the majority of people who enjoy it for the excitement of seeing something like the Gundam vs Mechagodzilla fight.
@og_gamerzzz: Spielberg actually knows quite a bit about gaming, being one himself, so much so he was at one point going to produce his own games. It's doubtful any other director could have done as good or a better job with the movie. Whatever you think of it, the gaming aspect of RPO was one of the things handled well.
