I can't say I'm excited by this month's batch of free games. It doesn't have the repetition of October, so at least that's a plus. As for last month, Valiant Hearts was okay, but it was more of a story than a game, and the story wasn't really that great. The perfect healing achievement near the game's end was super frustrating to me, which really knocked the it down a few pegs. The Walking Dead had a better story, but it was even less of a game than Valiant Hearts. I didn't like the how the last chapter played out either...there should've been an ambiguous end based upon your choices. The Walking Dead could've been alot better if it played out more as a choose your own adventure than a fixed story.
As for November, Dungeon Siege 3 may be okay. I never bought it due to middling/poor reviews. I'm expecting to be a dumbed down Dungeon Siege 2 with an annoying story...which is okay for a free game. Hopefully it doesn't have the game crashing bugs that the PSP version had. Pneuma seems to be interesting based on some online chatter, and hopefully it turns out to be a good game. I know very little about knight squad and I think it's multiplayer only. I doubt I'll play it more than a few times, as I prefer single player games. Something inside my head keeps telling me it's another dud like IDARB. Lastly, I probably pass on Dirt 3, as I'm not into racing games.
I hope MS does something a little more exciting for December. I keep hearing that Ryse is desired/considered as a "free" game candidate and that's something that has more buzz to it than any of the recent XB1 offerings. Limbo would be really nice on either XB1 or the 360. Sony's already had it as a free offerring, so it shouldn't be that hard to get. Alternatively, Torchlight for the 360 would be awesome.
@jedicommand7: They needed something to keep ME4 in the news crawl. Besides, it's almost time for them to roll out their obligatory "gay" romance update on ME4.
@bobafetthatesu: I don't know if it would sell, but what would be neat is having a console designed to use a 4K TV for couch multiplayer. It would require special glasses so one user sees 2K of images related to their particular position while the other player sees a different set of images on the other 2K.
Mr. Moore, explain to me EA sports games and the Battlefield series aren't HD remakes. I can't believe EA is opposed milking popular franchises by applying new jobs to them.
I can't really think of Assassin's Creed as an open world game. You can't really go anywhere and do anything in no particular order. The AC games I've played have had gated worlds that require story progressions to advance into other areas of the game world. Other than RPG elements AC isn't really all that different from Dragon Age/Mass Effect.
@czlapaj2: Of course it's serious!!! I lay awake at night wondering what the file size of every game ever created was or will be. Now I can rest easy knowing what that file size for JC3 is on my XB1, even though I've yet to ever play any Just Cause game. Just look at the wonder Phil Spencer has done for XB1...now we Xbots can say the Xbox gets file size information FIRST. Who needs 1080p?
@bobafetthatesu: I can't imagine how badly the PS4 fanboys or PC master racists are feeling not knowing the exact size of hard drive space this may be consuming on their devices.
