The Witcher 2 is a great RPG if you're alright with a fantasy setting (since you're playing HoMM I assume so).

And with the big 2.0 patch that just came out it's a much more polished experience now

How far have you gotten into the game prior to being 'scared off'

I hang out in the rookie channel once in a while and I find most people complain about the game being too hard to get into but none of them do any tutorials. They are definitely there for a reason...

Not too long. Maybe around 5 hours usually.

I realise that it is entirely my own fault for not dedicating enough time to really dig into the game and just understand the systems.

But for some reason Eve Online just seems to be a lot more overwhelming in this regard than most other stuff I've played.

Oh, and I'm glad to hear that other people have pretty much the exact same feelings that I do ;)

I'm a real sci-fi nerd and love space ships and giant capital ships.

Eve Online *should* be a perfect game for me, but I find that I am getting scared off by its complexity every time I try to get into it.

I wrote a small post about it that you can check out:

My Ambivalent Relationship with Eve Online

Am I the only one who feels this way about Eve Online?

Maybe I'm just too damaged by all the "casual" games that we get nowadays.

Found both to be rather "meh", but probably Rage if I had to pick one

It's a pretty smart move from Blizzard

1) WoW players that are kinda on the fence as to if they should punch out now will get a big incentive to commit to another year, and by that time Blizzard will probably have released the new x-pack, keeping them playing for some months more and making them buy the x-pack

2) People that have quit WoW a long time ago but are pumped for D3 may be tempted to reactivate their account to see what is up in WoW and secure a copy of D3 as well

and the only thing they are "paying" is the cross section of gamers that would have picked up D3 for sure and also be keeping up an active WoW subscription at the same time

I really feel that ID is something of a dinosaur of game development.

Games have moved on from the simple point and shoot that they do well.

Especially if you're going to use so many years on every single game. It's just not going to be economically viable.

Hey guys

So Blizzcon 2011 is starting today.

The last few years I've bought a virtual ticket to have access to the show (I'm from Denmark, so actually going is not a practical option), but this year I found myself not really caring enough to fork over the cash for a virtual ticket.

I played WoW since launch in November 2004 and finally quit my account completely at the start of 2011.

I guess we'll probably see a new expansion announced today, but it just doesn't really excite me.

I'm really looking forward to the next piece of Starcraft 2, but I'm not OMG OMG OMG excited about it.

Finally Diablo 3. I am really looking forward to this game, but I kind of feel that I'm at a point now where I really already know everything I want to know about this game and I just want to play it already.

The only thing that could really excite me is if they were to unveil Titan finally, but I don't think they're ready to do that just yet

I actually enjoy the balance we have in games of today that allow players to play through most of the major titles in 10-15 hours on the normal difficulty.

If you really want your game to be more of a challenge or take longer, then most games offer a difficulty level setting that should keep you satisfied.

As an older gamer I find that I would simply being unable to have enough time to play all the games that I want to see, if I had to dedicate 30+ hours for every single title.

I actually wrote a blog post about this very subject and why I like it that you might want to check out:

Why casual friendly games are great for some gamers

Hey

I have previously made a list of things I'm looking forward to in ME3 and high on that list was seeing more of the Geth and hopefully exploring their storyline more.

The more I think about this the more I realize that I am probably a lot more fascinated by the Geth than I am by the Reapers, actually.

I put together a small post about what I think makes the Geth so cool, which you can check out if you want (ME1 and ME2 spoilers included):

Why the Geth are awesome

What about you guys?

Am I the only one that just really really wants to see how this conflict between the Quarians and the Geth pans out?
