@r31ya: GameWorks is a middleware, not a developer. That said, GameWorks IS a complete pile. It's supposed to replace PhysX but it's just terrible on all fronts.
The port was handled by Iron Galaxy. They're known for their previous games like Dive Kick and the Vita port of Borderlands 2. Their track record is NOT good and the fact that they keep getting such high-profile port projects is depressing. If something you're looking forward to gets handed to them, stop looking forward to it.
@BrunoBRS: Those issues were almost exclusively involving the nVidia GameWorks features.
GameWorks is a hot mess. The consoles dodge the issues simply by not supporting those features.
[Edit: not defending their reaction, the whole situation is deplorable, but it's good they're offering refunds at least. People can take their money, spend it somewhere else and be forewarned in the future of what kind of quality WB is willing to try and pass off.]
@davillain-: Whoever's mother he was talking about, I bet she makes really tough pancakes with like, one side all black and the other off-beige. And she doesn't warm the syrup.
@digitm64: I agree that this is a bad way to behave as it doesn't show the company they're doing something wrong, but I also know there's no way to convince you otherwise.
If I had to offer you one piece of advice it would be this: Don't preorder it and if you can possibly manage to hold it off, buy a used copy.
There will be many used copies day one, I virtually guarantee. Every person who doesn't buy a new copy but still gets it is still voting with their wallet. Gives you an idea why so many companies are pushing all digital doesn't it?
Anyway, I'm not the boss of you. Do what you want but that's my recommendation. Don't preorder and buy a used copy if you absolutely have to have it.
@Argle: I know a few people who had their names banned for being inappropriate. They all eventually got their accounts back but they had to have their names changed.
They retained all of their games and DLC but many of their saves were no longer compatible, their online accounts for MMO's like FFXV were simply lost to the wind and all of their trophies were permanently lost, so I guess that might be an indicator towards what you're suggesting in the storage.
@butterworth: You'll note that Battlefront did a free open beta recently, and the defense against people who said it wasn't worth buying was still to buy it because it was a limited beta.
This "your opinion doesn't count unless you own the full thing" mentality has got to stop. We need to bring back demos, or make refunds easier. Steam has the right idea there. Getting people's money through nigh-on trickery is getting old.
@butterworth: I seem to recall a series of articles claiming Battlefront wasn't largely Battlefield with Star Wars paint as well, so forgive me if I'm skeptical having played that.
The Beta seems to have gone open for everyone more or less so again, we'll see. Though I imagine the NDA is still in place so I won't be able to technically confirm...
