Lets face it numbers dont lie and in this case 19 billion dollars this years anually video games sales. Only 1 billion were the pc sales

Pirates of the carribean 2 have a gross of 1,2 billion , batman has over 600 million in u.s alone , clearly this 1 billion that pc sales make this year feels like nothing.

the last few years , i kinda enjoyed and always checked the' why its good to be a pc gamer'' and all those similar threads , but particulary this year we can easily make a thread called , why been a pc gamer sucks and so on.

In 2008 the list of the games that didnt even came out for pcs is very long. Few of them are GoW2, Mgs4 , the force unleashed, battlefield bad company, Grid, too human, fable 2 , resistance 2 ,fracture , dark sector , almost all sport related games , seriously i can go forever.

On the other hand , what did really came for pcs exclusively?

These past 6 months i have spend over 3k $ on my new pcs because i was so hyped to play the new mmos like aoc and War , which at the end both blows , quite frankly they suck major a totally rip off. O i can count spore as well , which is even worse. Point is nothing really good came for pcs this year that worth play. Luckily we had few games like fallout 3 and deadspace which were released for pcs as well.

fact is that the only serious company that is strictly about pc games is blizzard. Also a couple more like bioware and bethesda are still in the business for pc.

Boware will contune to do so even if the mass effect sales were low in pc , mainly because of the upcoming mmo , about bethesda i relaly doubht since the pc salles of fallout were pretty low in comparison with the console ones.

Honestly i feel as a secong grade customer here even if i have spend in pcs in the last year thousands of $ ( euros actually in my case) in comparison with the 300$ on average an xbox gamer did.

And if you think this year sucked check the upcoming 2009 games , is getting even funnier for pc gamers , since most of the pc games come from companies we never heard of , low budget productions and so on.

Yesterday i bought my first console after 20 years of pc gaming but i dont really see the point of spending money for somehting that seems already dead.

I can honestly say that after playing gow2 in an hd tv set i will never go back to pc and sadly i dont see this change soon.

2008 will go in few hours and the worst pc gaming year in the history will pass but its just the beginning.

what can i say happy new year all ;p

topulo
LOL. 1 single pc game did more revenue than the 1 billion you claim in pc sales. Its called WOW and it has over 11 million people who pay $15 a month for a grand total of 1.65 billion dollars.

[QUOTE="SEANMCAD"]World sizes from that developer work like this (from largest to smallest) Morrowind Oblivion Fallout 3 This is also in sync with the timeline. I predict by Edlers Scroll VI the world size will be about as big as a multiplayer shooter map

Uhhh. This is just not true. Oblivion was quite a bit larger than morrowind. Also fallout 3 is not an elder scrolls game. I am sure Bethesda will make another huge Elder Scrolls game.

Bioshock is worth $10 for sure. Do you own the orange box? It's a must have for any pc gamer. I haven't played Vampyre Story but its getting as good of reviews as any adventure game gets these days. Of course you'll want to try Crysis although the game itself isn't the very best, its a graphical wonder. Mass Effect is very good as well.

TF2 is fabulously tolerant of new people. It's the one online game I've ever played where I am willing to show people new tricks if they want me to. Most other games I'd tell them to eat their own chairs. TF2 is that unique game where its remarkably common to see the average, slightly crappy player who can't aim, they are everywhere. But then there's that one individual person who can stickybomb jump up to secret areas (which I did and got banned for) and these players inspire you. The one thing I'd suggest is to experiment lots. People on TF2 NEVER make the piss if you look like a prat, because the community is old and good manered enough to know that if you pull off whatever you're trying to do, it is going to help the team. If you die, everyone has a laugh including you.

To be frank, I can't think of a better example to start online gaming than TF2. The cartoon graphics are an excellent setting, the battle styles (captrue the intel) are generic enough for you to recognise and play along, and the players are either skilled or just plain average, but no one cares either way because if people get the impression you take the game too seriously you get booed off the server.

COD4 is a terrible game to start gaming on. It's effectively sucked up the CSS fanboys and they litter the cod4 servers with their brattish behaviour. TF2's playing style only brings in the relaxed and the intelligent.

I agree with this. I have played other online fps but nothing no community is as good as TF2's

I thought of a couple more recommendations that are better. You might look at the witcher, neverwinter nights, or titan quest for cheaper action rpgs like diablo.

1. yes definitely 2. don't really remember maybe someone else can fill in this gap 3. yes although they don't give you tons of opportunities to level up beyond the missions. Its pretty linear really. Not like diablo at all. 4. Excellent. very few problems for this day in age. It is stable for sure. $5 is a great price. I was going to recommend Fallout 3 until I saw your price. Bioshock is much the same as Masseffect. Pretty linear and not much opportunity to power level. Both are more about the story. Mass Effect is probably closer but neither is like diablo. Hard to think of another $5 game. Might look at Mount and Blade. Its not a graphical wonder but its cheap, and totally a power leveling action rpg. Fallout 3 if you have more money would be good as well. There are also a lot of cheap diablo clones such as Dungeon Lords.

Are you sure it doesn't say: Nvidia 9800? in the requirements?TWuD
this. You really need to go to a fallout specific forum because you're going to have to tweak a few things. To help a little though... First download the latest drivers for your graphic card. Download the latest game patch too. Often they support more graphic cards in the patch. Third shut every program down that you can. Don't run virus protection, or anything that might soak up resources in the background.

Why? One company already tried to save it.

you can interact with them just fine. This latest patch doesn't even have any content for beginners. you'll be fine with just the basic game for now.
