@chemicalegypt Not really. The Xbox One preorders were sold out BEFORE this announcement.

@CDWJUSTIN Technically, you don't own any software or games on any consoles.

@GOGOHeadray It might not be day 1. It could be like steam where the games still start at 50-60, but within 2 months, drop very quickly.

@DarthLod Spend 500+ dollars (after tax, and buying the game itself) for one or two games?

That's painful. Aka, not going to happen.

Developers need to reign in their spending for sure. But the consumer should stop expecting every game to be exactly the same price regardless of quality. No other industry works this way. You don't get a Kia and BMW for the same price. Customers getting over their entitlement of "games must be the best thing ever and only cost 60 dollars, but also I want to trade it in in a week and get half my money towards their next game too" Going digital will help this.

It will also help more sales on older games to happen (just like Steam does) instead of game publishers having GameStop tell them "No we won't buy your new 1 year old game for any price, we get 100% of the used game profits instead". You think publishers don't want to have sales on disc games more often? Of course they do. They just can't because of the current state of the used market and how the retailer has zero incentive after the first wave of games gets traded in. Going digital will help this too.

Then we let each developer hang themselves if they don't sell to expectations due to having to price their games so high, bad DLC practices, etc. But first we need a fair market. And contrary to popular belief, its not just the publisher's fault. Its Retailers, Publishers AND Consumers all causing this to happen.

@VarietyMage Greed? He's retired as has zero stake in it anymore. He made a true comment that the world is going digital (most people don't even buy discs on the PC anymore, it will be the same for consoles soon) and you are super butthurt about it.

PS: How's that kickstarter working out for you? Over half the projects fail (that's a fact), many of them have been proven scams. Look at that over-hyped OUYA. Piece of crap out of the box. If people were any smarter, they'd realize they could have (and still) gotten the same thing OUYA does with a 40 dollar TV adapter. Yet dumb people gave millions. Congrats internet, you've shown good judgement there! Many of the sucessful project developers like the makers of FTL have said they would never use kickstarter if they could do it again because pleasing people is hard enough. Let alone when the dumb internet thinks they are 'investors' and have 'pro insight'.

@FighterforJC @Prats1993 @Deadly_Nemesis You are literally braindead. Its clear you are about 12-16 year old since you don't really know that his work on Unreal is what launched a golden age of game development. Gears was NOTHING compared to that.

I hope you do personally assault him, that way you end up in jail. The public doesn't need you spreading your mental handicap a further generation.
