Where's the evidence for it being a fad? Please do tell.

Cool. So what are your predictions for the next 5 years if you're so confident?

Will VR grow or will it decline? Will it get more AAAs or will it get none after Alyx?

Reasons, please. At least play the part.

Lets just say it's ingenious to think VR isn't a fad, because so many people do even though they are wrong.

If you can see an important technology coming to fruition, it's because you were smart enough to see it coming when the rest of the world couldn't. The same thing happened for phones, PCs, TVs which were all thought to be fads.

Most ingenious devices or people are mocked.

The 90s consumer VR market lasted a couple of years and was generated by small companies and startups. There was no Nintendo equivalent company doing consumer VR back then, and certainly no Apple/Facebook equivalent.

In truth, developers only learned how to develop for VR in recent years as basically all 90s consumer VR games were just badly done ports like Wolfenstein.

It's in the first generation. Expectations have to be tempered.

I go off consumer markets, so I'll give him that one. The first consumer radios appeared in the early 1920s and it went mainstream by the end of the decade. It was a one-time unfathomable thing that hasn't happened since anyway.

No one says you have to lock yourself in and always be in VR. However if you completely refuse to induldge in VR just because you want to do things in real life, you're missing out. VR will have a lot of insane activities that real life can't provide - and even a concert in VR can be something otherwordly. If you've seen the Fortnite Travis Scott concert, it shows just how different and trippy a virtual concert can be. Then add lifelike 3D audio, player avatars, and much better visuals, and you have yourself concerts that start to make the real world look dry by comparison.

Astro Bot does better than almost all Xbox exclusives and it's just one of several game of the year VR titles not named Alyx. End thread.
