Medical accuracy points - The ER staff in the beginning of the trailer state that Snake is going into "V-Fib" before they use the defibrillator, unlike most movies that would say "He's flat-lining!" (asystole) which is not a shockable rhythm.
I enjoyed everything but the amputation- Without a tourniquet on his leg, he would have bled out in seconds from his femoral artery. Even a 3 hour combat lifesaving course should teach you that!
Aside from that this is looking great though. I'll pick up the PS4 version for sure!
Beatles Rock Band was incredible if you ask me. I grew up as a huge Beatles fan and sitting in the basement with a few friends playing along to it, watching the awesome animated levels and singing all night was amazing and really was the peak of how great rhythm gaming experiences can be. Less as "Games" and more so as an alternative way to listen to and connect with the music you love. I sort of think of it as air-guitaring along to your favourite songs, but with a bit more structure and consequence (though no-fail mode is a godsend if you ask me; removing the frustration element from getting sunk by a hard solo 4 minutes into a song you were loving until that point sort of sucks the joy out of it).
I think the band specific Rock Bands that are made by teams who are clearly passionate about the material is the way to go. They may not light up the sales charts like they used to, but I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people out there who wouldn't mind kicking back and strumming along to some Zeppelin or Floyd if given the opportunity.
I think you're looking at that through a lens of nostalgia buddy- not that the games you mentioned are bad, but can you honestly say that Rez, Amplitude and Body Harvest are vastly more original than games like Journey, Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet, The Gunstringer, Wii Sports or any of the finely tuned 3rd Person action games whose mechanics were defined in this generation (motion controls and cover shooting weren't really PS2-Xbox things if you recall). Even Guitar Hero was a pretty crazy evolution of Amplitude (which was itself a sequel to Frequency btw).
@Alastor-10 Killer 7 had a great story, but the mechanics made it nearly unplayable- it was one of the least user-friendly console games ever made. This game looks like a pretty solid 3rd person hack and slash, but with Killer 7's cool art design and (presumably) off the wall story telling. I'm pretty interested to see how this turns out- and I REALLY hope it paves the way for a Shadows of the Damned sequel; more adventures of Garcia Hotspurr and Johnson would be awesome
