Guess I should check my email... So how many accounts does Steam have? More than 77 million...?

So if Gears stays ahead, it means Gears is better, and if Uncharted passes it, it just means GS is full of cows, right?

kinect sports season 2 and Dance central 2 will outsell most of the ps3 exclusives this year no need to add the Gunstringer , Gears 3 ,Forza 4 ,Halo Anniversary devilsoultaker2
Hmm... What's the best selling Kinect game worldwide so far, other than the one that is bundled with every single kinect sold? I don't think I've ever seen any sales data on any Kinect games.

[QUOTE="marklarmer"]you keep on trying to generalize (as usual :roll: ) that lems were saying this 'all year', where as if you actually bothered to read the topic which was bumped earlier about it the vast majority are saying "i doubt it" and "no it won't" :|

marklarmer

Every side gets generalized because of the things said by the most vocal. Why do you act like I'm the only one that does this? All cows get lumped in as saying that the PS3 would pass the 360 in total sales within months of releasing, even though I'm pretty sure it was only some vocal ones that made that claim. All hermits get lumped in as elitists who think consolites must be stupid, poor, peasants, even though I'm sure they don't all have that view. So on and so on. I didn't say "MarkLarmer said Gears would outsell every PS3 game, " nor did I say "Every single Lem said it." I said "people were claiming." Did people claim it? Yes. Do I know exactly how many, or what there names are? No. So I said "people."

When Unchated got a 9, and *some* Lemmings were saying "Lol, cows are mad because Gears 3 scored higher," why weren't you rushing in saying "You guys are generalizing... it's only a few cows that are actually mad about that?" Here's something to think about: the most hypocritical thing that happens on SW, is when one fan group accuses another of being hypocrites.

um, no they don't. You really need to stop making mindless generalizations based on nothing whatsoever :| in fact when people question the ones you make all you seem to do is make even more ridiculous ones

Oh? NOBODY has ever made such a statement? I guess I'm wrong. I bet the inverse of that one must be made up too... No hermits have ever generalized that "consolites only prefer consoles because they are either too poor for a pc, or are ignorant," either, huh? Either way, as always, you missed the point (that all groups get generalized by people of other groups as having said things that only a few people actually said from time to time) and instead focus on an over the top example thrown in, intentionally, to highlight how it happens, even when the statement is absurd. If this was one of those passages on the reading comprehension portion of the SAT or ACT exams, where you read a passage, and have to respond to what the main idea was, you would not have gotten it right.

Sorry, I think I'm implementing from here on a strict limit of no more than 1 or 2 responses to MarkLarmer per thread, because it's always an exercise in futility. You never respond to my points, we get on tangents about random comments and examples... Its just not worth the time.

[QUOTE="bphan"]

Maybe not John 117, but teh MASTER CHIEF. YOU BET.

bphan

Maybe in America, or maybe not, based just on the name Master Chief... a picture would be more recognizable, perhaps. I know a lot of "average Americans" who would think military and say "Master Chief who?" long before making a video game reference. And That's probably even more in countries that aren't America. People in the gaming scene would know what you meant by Master Chief, and people who played the games might know John 117, while people completely out of touch with gaming might recognise a picture as "that Halo guy." Likewise, People who have played the game, obviously know Nathan Drake, and I'd say most of the vg scene, but some might simply know him as that Uncharted dude, or that Bro Raider dude. And people out of touch with gaming? Well, MC has been plastered on sodas and fountain drinks for going on a decade, versus Drake being the new guy, but I bet some people would recognise his picture... especially if you put a Subway cup in his hand, or had him doing the 5 dollar footlong dance... ;)

My brother is in the military. Everyone knows who master chief is there. LOL

Yeah. But do the random aunts and grandmas of those personnel, who know nothing about video games, but do have family in the military know who MC is? Or would they just assume you mean an actual military rank? The statement wasn't about gamers, even bro gamers... it was "the average American."

[QUOTE="oillort"]Of course that wouldn't be such a feat because there are so few 360 exclusives.marklarmer

Did you make this because of me saying someone needed to make this thread in the "Will Gears 3 outsell every 2011 PS3 exclusive combined?" thread? If so, that's great.

Also... @ everyone saying "Gears!" Surely you got the memo being passed around today? 3.8 million/1 day > 3 million/7 days. :P

Seriously though, I doubt it will, BUT it will probably closer to doing it than Gears 3 outselling all the PS3 exclusives, like people were claiming would happen all year.

lawl no. :lol:

The Uncharted series is nowhere near as popular or mainstream as Halo. If you mentioned Nathan Drake to the average American, all you'd get is a blank stare.

These sales are bogus. 3.8 million sold to retailers, maybe. But not 3.8 million sold to consumers.

1. And what if you mentioned John 117 to the average European, South American, or Asian? Hell, or American, for that matter. You'd get instant recognition?

[QUOTE="kbanna"]

"When Halo 3 and Reach came out, there were less 360's sold than there are PS3s sold now. almost 40 million less, in Halo 3's case. I haven't heard MW3s launch sales yet, but all the previous CoDs break their own record every year for the same reason... The install base on PS3 has been going up by between 9 and 14 and a half million every year, and 360's has gone up by between 7 and 12 million every year. Acting surprised that Uncharted 3 might have better launch sales with a 55.5 million install base than a game that came out in 2007, with a global install base < 20 million...? Really?"

No, thats not why I'm skeptical. both consoles have had user bases that were well over 45m, 50m for a while now. Yet no exclusive game has come out and sold 4m in one week much less one day. COD is the only franchise that has consistently sold over 5m mill per console in its first week. Now Sony wants me to believe that a Franchise that sold 1m last time came out and sold 4m in one day…largest numbers for a single platform…right? Where are the "Largest amount sold for a single platform accolades?? Why is this fact not being talked about? If its true its true, but no Sony exclusive has ever come close to that number in one month. We will see

Tikeio

No 360 exclusive other than Gears 3, Forza 4, and Kinect games has been released since the 360 hit 45 million units. And while PS3 has had some games come out since it's been in the ~50 or more range, none nearly as big as Uncharted. Uncharted is pretty much officially now PS's Halo. And seriously, why do people keep bringing U2's launch sales up? Are my pots explaining why the games are in completely different situations not showing up?

lawl no. :lol:
