@demonkingx5 @MigzBR @LADIES_MAN_2013 @TheRedDeath25 HD tv's are also a lot cheaper than they used to be and far more abundant. Standard boob tubes are thinning out now. Plus they're not just for gaming purposes.
@Simulator_Shock tbf there aren't any charming GTA characters. They're either eccentric, annoying, mildly relatable, or just really weird. Some have combinations of these.
SE, stop making incredibly non-tangible abstract plot lines. Why do the characters in your games lately never mention things happening around them? They always constantly substitute everything with the words Fate, Destiny, Protect, and Fight FFS. Why don't you actually have your characters actually BE characters instead of transits for the plot points of an abstract story? No one could possibly care about some character who's only purpose is to try to act cool or spout lines that try to sound important but don't actually say a GD thing!
For instance: have the characters actually talk in depth about a plan (and everything involved) to rescue someone as opposed to using a lazy line of dialogue like "I'm going to save this person from his/her fate" and not actually having a plan or discussing said plan. Other things: Have characters notice things and have opinions and conversations about little things. They're supposed to be people, right? People don't only talk about the big things happening around them, they will talk about their favorite foods, their hobbies, politics, etc.
Most importantly, for a VAST majority of the time, the characters should be bickering with each other in pretty humorous ways and talking about the smaller things. At least do it half the time; the major plot points can still be there, but don't over-dramatize them.
There's also a lack of mystery lately in your games, SE. Everybody shouldn't know everything about everything around them. The plot should evolve as time goes on, and new things constantly come to life.
This isn't asking anything more than what Squaresoft was able to do. So get to it.
